Juiced style of driving is more akin to the trafficless, cordoned-off track driving of something like a Forza Motorsport or Gran Turismo game than the frenetic driving found in any of the Midnight Club or Need for Speed Underground games, where youd find yourself dodging traffic all while trying to outwit the citys top street racers. However, the games roster of cars is made up almost exclusively of the kind of tuner rides youd find in those games, and the driving is very much an arcade brand of racing, rather than anything realistic. And therein lies the problem. The game tries to throw you into a fast and loose style of driving in an overly controlled and generally bland track style. The few instances of realism in the driving mechanics also rob it of some of its thrill, as youll have to carefully plot your turns so as to not wipe out (although youll want to take the games braking advice with a grain of salt, as it is often inaccurate), and bumping up against other cars has a negative impact in multiple sections of the game, removing that kind of visceral thrill from the picture. The races dont have a great sense of speed, so even when youre busting out with your nitrous tank to blast past the competition, it comes off as pretty underwhelming. What youre ultimately left with is a driving model thats off-kilter and generally not very exciting.

That"s where DVD Rebuilder Professional (DVD-RB) comes in. This program was built to bridge the gap between the incredibly easy but limited "one-click" solutions and the incredibly complex but high-quality methods of DVD ripping and backup. Another advantage of DVD-RB when compared to older methods is that it doesn"t require access to an expensive authoring package. DVD-RB includes its own reauthoring engine that reconstructs the DVD in a way compatible with its original design.

Over the course of the past couple of years DVD ripping techniques have changed dramatically. Newer "one click" programs have made backing up a DVD a fairly simple process... but there is a significant trade-off. The quality that can be attained by even the best of these programs is poor in comparison to original techniques that used Cinemacraft Encoder, TMPGEnc, or other top-notch encoders. The reason is simple. When using one of these encoders the picture is rebuilt from scratch and optimized for the resulting bit rate. One-touch transcoders usually change quantization and/or motion info in order to lower the bit rate. This can result in pixelation and poor overall picture.

CHANGES MADE TO PRO VERSION
- Added direct support for AutoQMatEnc. Please note
that DVD-RB only enables support when it can determine
the application path. It will assume the default path
"c:program filesautoqmatencautoqmatenc.exe" unless
overridden via registry entry. AutoQMatEnc can be
downloaded from http://www.autoqmatenc.com.
- Updated the installation package to include the latest
HC Encoder version (v.18).
- Fixed a bug in which cells that contain no video data
might result in "VOB/CELL not found" during rebuild.
- Fixed an error in which ILVU video segments that are
extracted (because the disc will fit) can become corrupt
and cause strange playback behavior.
- Corrected an error in which "garbage" data following
null or padding sectors could result in unpredictable
timing and/or desynchronization.
- Fixed "Error 53" that could occur when no M2V file was
created during the ENCODE phase after three tries. The
error was typically caused by an incorrect encoder path
and should have issued a more informative "Failed to
Create an M2V" file and exited gracefully.
- Corrected sizing calculations on discs containing null
or padding sectors (usually inserted by a decrypter) to
help prevent possible (slight) undersizing.
- Added code to reduce the likelihood of "Error #0006" on
streams that contain embedded MPEG garbage. Also, as
investigation showed that these only happen in "orphaned"
MPEG sections (following "null sectors" created by a
decrypter) that are never actually decoded, the error
has been removed and replaced by a warning in the STATUS
window/log.
- Added code to remove DVD-RB from a minimized state just
before executing a shutdown sequence. There are reports
that the shutdown dialog "freezes" with the "5 seconds"
text showing when attempted while minimized.
- Implemented a change that can reduce the likelihood of
"Error #0003, buffer overflow" on oddly formatted source
streams.
- Fixed an error in which it is feasible (but rare) that
logging of a start code at the very end of a VTS might
be missed during PREPARE.
- Corrected an error in CC processing that could cause an
error "0068 0005" when a new GOP with CC data starts at
at the very end of a video packet.
- Made several process improvements to the handling of
sequence_end_codes and associated end actions.
- As closed captioning support appears to be stable, it
has been removed from "beta" status and can now be
enabled/disabled from the "Settings" menu.
- Added code to avoid confusion by disabling menu selection
of encoders for which no path is present in the setup.
